Marginal plants, oxygenators, water lilies, bog plants, partly emerging and floating plants are the six main types of aquatic plants. Within each group there is a wide variety; many of which are suitable for even the very smallest ponds while some would only find application in large informal ponds. Colour and leaf form are often the reason plants are chosen. Other reasons include the important provision of oxygen to the pond water. All ponds benefit greatly from the use of correctly chosen and planted aquatic plant life.
